Harlem Book Fair

The 15th Annual Harlem Book Fair will take place Saturday, July 20th, 2013. The Harlem Book Fair is the largest book fair of its kind, and is expected to draw more than 50,000 New Yorkers and visitors to West 135th Street (between Fifth Avenue and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevards in Harlem), from 12 PM to 6 PM. Over 250 booths will be set up along West 135th Street, offering books, story-telling, readings, and opportunities to meet and greet authors on four stages that will feature spoken word poets, celebrities, and music throughout the day. Harlem Heritage Tours is honored to work with Max Rodriguez and the Harlem Book Fair in offering the following cultural sightseeing experiences to compliment the Harlem Book Fair.


Harlem Book Fair Multimedia Literary / Cultural Bus Tour

Cruise the historic streets of the Black capital of the world and see over 40 historic locations associated with Harlem’s history. Special attention will be paid to sights pertaining to literary Harlem such as the Amsterdam Newspaper Office, the Langston Hughes House, Niggerarti Manor, Strivers Row, Dark Tower and the former residence of Rudolph Fisher. This multimedia experience takes you to actual sights and locations and presents applicable archival footage, rare prints and recordings at the sights where history happened. Tours should be more than guides speaking for history; the “Harlem Book Fair Multimedia Bus Tour” allows history to speak for itself.

Price: $39.00 Per Person
Meet: 135th Street & Malcolm X Blvd., on northwest corner in front of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. 2, 3 express (IRT – red line) trains arrives directly to location. Tour guide will be standing on northwest corner wearing red hat with sign in hand that reads “Harlem Heritage Tours”.
