experiences:
February - Black History Month - 2008

July 14th, 2007 -
Saturday - "Harlem Reads Harlem"
The Harlem Heritage Tourism
and Cultural Center invites folks from near and far to participate
with us in the launch of "Harlem Reads Harlem" on July 14th, 2007.
The idea of this initiative is to promote literacy in the community
via heritage tourism. Participants will read books set in
Harlem, and then engage in cultural events and multimedia bus /
walking tour of the community that pertain to the books we read.
We will start with the autobiography of Malcolm X. After
reading the book, we will conduct a multimedia bus tour that will
present actual footage of Malcolm X at the very sight that he
mentions in the book - this will make the pages come to life.
1:00 PM: Start of reading of
the Autobiography of Malcolm X
Fee: free to be a part of
"Harlem Reads Harlem", there will be a charge for future complimentary
multimedia bus/walking tours and other cultural events attached to
"Harlem Reads Harlem".
