Rev. Adam Clayton Powell Jr. was one of the most powerful men in Washington during the 1960’s when he chaired the committe for education and labor, writing legislation that still benefits us today. Unforfortunately we have folks who live on Adam C. Powell Jr. Blvd in Harlem who don’t know who he is – not their fault – the schools in Harlem don’t focus on Adam Clayton Powell Jr, but we love him at the Harlem Heritage Tourism & Cultural Center. He was not perfect, but who is.
